Spring well cover to be replaced

BOONSBORO - A structure covering the Warrenfeltz spring well will get a six-figure update after Town Council on Monday approved a construction bid for work.

Hiser Construction Inc. offered to replace the well covering for $133,990. The price is less than what was originally bid, but the town modified plans to bring the cost down, Town Manager Debra Smith said.

The bid was the lowest of three, Smith said.

Stop signs planned at intersection

BOONSBORO - Motorists driving near the intersection of Lakin Avenue and Center Street need to take heed after Boonsboro Town Council decided to put up stop signs.

Assistant Mayor Howard W. Long suggested the change Monday because he said people asked him why the intersection did not already have a four-way stop.

After a resident voiced his concerns about the intersection, which he called an "accident waiting to happen," and Boonsboro Police Chief Jeff Hewett expressed support for stop signs, the council unanimously agreed to put up the signs.
