A Hagerstown man is accused of driving into a house with a vehicle that he allegedly took from a parking lot where it had been left running, the Hagerstown Police Department said.

Rodney D. Weaver, of 847 Florida Ave., allegedly drove off at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in a 2004 Mazda someone left running in the parking lot of Mel's Tavern in the 400 block of Salem Avenue, police said.

After he allegedly drove the vehicle into a house in the 400 block of Cook Street, Weaver was taken to Washington County Hospital for treatment, police said.

Weaver was awaiting an appearance Tuesday night before a Washington County District Court Commissioner on charges that included theft of a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of property, DUI/DWI, leaving the scene of a property-damage traffic accident and driving on a suspended license, police said.
