Two held on bail in home invasion, assault

Two men were arrested Friday and charged with several offenses, including armed robbery, after allegedly breaking into a home last month on Broadfording Road and assaulting two of the people who live there, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Department press release.

Ronald Brackett, 19, no available address, and Kevin Mendonca, 20, no available address, each were charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, various degrees of burglary, robbery and armed robbery, and various counts of conspiracy, according to the release.

Brackett surrendered to the sheriff's department Friday and is being held at the county jail on $25,000 bail, the sheriff's department reported. Mendonca is being held on $150,000 bail. The sheriff's department reported that he was arrested Friday on North Locust Street.

Two other people who were arrested and charged last month for their involvement in the same case, Stephen Rudisill, 19, no available address; and Whitney Ingram, 18, no available address, have been released on bail, according to the sheriff's department.

The sheriff's department reported it was called Jan. 13 to the home in the 16000 block of Broadfording Road for a home invasion.

Several of the suspects beat the male victim in the home, according to the release. He was treated at Washington County Hospital and later released.

A female victim reportedly was choked. She refused treatment, according to the release.

One of the suspects had a shotgun, but left it at the scene, according to the release.
