Md. Department of Education approves schools master plan

February 01, 2007

The Washington County Public Schools Master Plan and required updates received unconditional approval from the Maryland State Department of Education.

This was the third consecutive year the school system received that approval, according to a written release.

"We are pleased that our plan has again received state approval," Superintendent Elizabeth Morgan said. "Both the board and staff have worked diligently on the plan to ensure that it supports student learning and moves the system closer to the board's vision of world class educational opportunities for all students."

This month, a master plan highlights booklet has been published to provide a summary to stakeholders of the major initiatives contained in the more than 1,000-page document.

To request a copy of the booklet, call the public information office at 301-766-2809.
