January 28, 2007

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development program offers subsidized mortgage payments with no points or down payment to qualified participants.

Eligibility to participate in Rural Development's 502 Direct Housing homeownership program depends upon the location - it must be in a rural area - the household size, income and the cost of the home.

The mortgage limit in Washington County is $236,700. Income limits vary by county and household size.

The maximum income limit for a family of four to be eligible to participate in the direct homeownership program in Washington County is $49,200.

Anyone wishing more information on the Rural Development homeownership program may contact Bonnie Rohrer, Rural Development manager, at 301-797-0500, ext. 4, or go to www.rurdev.usda.gov. TTY users may call 302-857-3585.
