City to eye raising pool rates

January 24, 2007

Rates could increase this year to swim at the Claude M. Potterfield Pool.

The Hagerstown City Council agreed Tuesday to consider increasing the cost of 2007 pool passes from $50 to $55 for children ages 5 to 12 and from $70 to $75 for people ages 13 to 61.

The fees could increase from $125 to $140 for families. The rates for children 2 and younger (free) and people 62 and older ($50) won't change.

Swim lessons could increase $3 for all ages and skill levels.

All of the rate increases were introduced by the Department of Community Affairs.

The council will vote on the increases during its Jan. 30 meeting.
