A Washington County Circuit Court jury acquitted a 22-year-old man of rape and assault charges Monday, according to court records.
Jermar Lee Williams, of no fixed address, was charged with second-degree rape and second-degree assault in a rape reported July 5, 2005, in the 400 block of Sumans Avenue, according to records.
A jury of six women and six men returned with their verdict in less than an hour Monday, a Circuit Court clerk said.
Circuit Judge W. Kennedy Boone presided over the trial. Williams was represented by Washington County Assistant Public Defenders Eric Reed and Brian Hutchison. Washington County Assistant State's Attorney John Dunlap prosecuted the case, according to records.
