January 24, 2007

A man who allegedly told police he wrecked his car because he was distraught about hitting his girlfriend is charged with several counts of assault.

Jason Wayne Rudisill, 21, of 489 Avondale Road in Martinsburg, allegedly told police that he was sick from doing heroin after he was arrested near the scene of a crash Sunday morning on Edward Doub Road in Williamsport.

A Washington County District Court charging document alleges Rudisill tried to harm himself and a passenger in the car he was driving by striking a guardrail.

When the woman grabbed the emergency brake to stop the vehicle, Rudisill allegedly struck her in the face, the document states.

After the victim fled the vehicle, Rudisill allegedly sped off before running into another guardrail, the document states.

Rudisill, who is charged with two counts of first-degree assault and other offenses, was being held at Washington County Detention Center, a deputy said.
