KEYSER, W.Va. - Marisa Elliot scored 13 points to lead Hagerstown Community College in a loss to Potomac State.

Jamie Robinson had a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds, while Samantha Cain and Latoya Buckner each scored 10 points for the Hawks (15-4, 8-1).

Shepherd 68, W.Va. State 48

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Laura Harkins scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Shepherd over West Virginia State in the West Virginia Conference.

Andrea Kauffman added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Rams (10-5, 6-2), while Danielle Costello had seven points and seven boards.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Ted Scott scored a game-high 32 points to lead West Virginia State over Shepherd University in the West Virginia Conference.

Scott connected on 14-of-17 shots from the floor for the Yellow Jackets (13-3, 5-2).

Barry Cornish poured in 25 points and grabbed nine boards to pace the Rams (10-7, 4-4). Yves Moliva scored 22 points and Danley Shank added 11.

Powell wins Centennial award

McDaniel College's Katy Powell was named Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Powell, a senior from Smithsburg, helped the Green Terror to three wins last week, extending their winning streak to 10 games. In conference victories over Washington and Gettysburg, Powell averaged 15.5 points per game and 6.5 rebounds. She is the leads the team in scoring average (13.4), steals, blocked shots and 3-pointers.

Gutekunst wins weekly honor

Jesse Gutekunst, a junior at Hood College, was awarded the PrestoSports Pride of Maryland Player of the Week. The South Hagerstown graduate registered back-to-back double-doubles as the Blazers beat Waynesburg and York last week. Gutekunst had 25 points and 14 rebounds against York. Gutekunst is listed among the NCAA Division III leaders in field goal percentage, rebounding and blocks.

Brown leads Mount track

Corey Brown, a Smithsburg graduate, took a first- and a second-place to help the Mount St. Mary's men's track and field team to a second-place finish in the Navy Invitational last weekend.

Brown won the long jump (6.72 meters) and was second in the high jump (1.94 meters).
