Radio show benefits library

January 22, 2007

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The original cast of the Rumsey Radio Hour will return Saturday, Feb. 17, with "The Rumsey Radio Hour, Unplugged," with some of the best sketches culled from 15 years worth of shows. The proceeds will go to support the mission of bringing storytellers to the children of Jefferson County.

The Rumsey Radio Hour was taped live in Reynolds Hall for broadcast over 15 radio stations from 1990 until 1995, and was resurrected a few years ago in support of the Shepherdstown Public Library. This year's show will feature Ethan Fischer as Johnny Dime: the Poet of Crime, some of the early adventures of Tom and Myrtle, a musical number from sisters Clissy Funkhouser and Nina Geiger, and Dr. Lucas will share his vast profundities with the captive audience.

Carol and Bradley Sanders and Liz Wheeler and staff will serve up dinner at the Road Kill Caf. The cash-donation bar will open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at approximately 7:15 p.m. The show will begin around 8:15 p.m.
