Teens charged in robbery

January 21, 2007

Two 16-year-old boys were charged Friday after allegedly robbing a taxi driver at gunpoint on Crest View Road, just outside of Hagerstown, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

The teens each were charged with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault and theft, police said.

Police said the robbery took place on Crest View Road at 8:48 p.m. Police allege one of the boys pointed a small loaded revolver at taxi driver William Herold and demanded money. Herold's girlfriend, Tabatha Cook, and her 12-year-old brother were in the car at the time.

The robbers allegedly then ran toward the parking lot at Hagerstown Commons, and were arrested after a brief foot chase with deputies, police said.
