Bus trip planned to Monticello

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County Master Gardeners will host a bus trip to Monticello and the Andre Viette Farm and Nursery near Staunton, Va., on April 28.

Monticello, the mountaintop home designed and built by Thomas Jefferson, is set on a 4,000 acre plantation outside of Charlottesville, Va. Monticello is the only home in the United States of America that has been designated a World Heritage Site.

After the Monticello visit, the bus will proceed to Michie Tavern, for a $15 buffet lunch and then to the Andre Viette Farm and Nursery. Viette's has one of the largest collections of perennials in the east and sells more than 3,000 varieties of rare and unusual sun and shade perennials. There will be a meal stop on the way back.

Tickets include admission to Monticello, deluxe motorcoach transportation and driver gratuity.

The bus will leave the Extension Office, 181 Franklin Farm Lane at 6 a.m. and return at approximately 8 p.m. The cost is $62 and space is limited. For reservations, call the Extension Office at 717-263-9226.
