Tae kwon do

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg YMCA is offering a free month of tae kwon do with black belt Tommy Thompson in January and February. Candidates must be new to the YMCA martial arts program. Classes are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Call Michele Sheppard at 717-263-8508.

Art classes

FREDERICK, Md. - The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center announces its winter schedule of art classes. Classes begin during January and February and run four to 10 weeks. Children's classes include ceramics, drawing, painting and wood. Class offerings for adults include ceramics, drawing, matting, jewelry, stained glass, painting, photography and sculpture. Art classes

Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will offer the following classes:

· Ceramics by hand for adults and teens - Instructor Jane Pingleton-Evans. Learn the basic techniques of ceramic hand building: pinch, coil and slab while you create unique works of art in clay. Clay and firing are provided. No experience is necessary. 1 to 4 p.m. Fridays, Jan. 19 to Feb. 23. $80 nonmembers plus $10 materials fee, $72 members plus $10 materials fee.

· Art for toddlers: Express yourself for ages 2 and 3 - Instructor Allison Weaver. By using their fingers, hands and feet, children will discover all kinds of ways to create great art. A parent or adult, 18 years or older, is required to stay and participate along with the registered child. Fridays, Jan. 19 through Feb. 23. $50 nonmembers; $45 members.

· Young at art for ages 4 to 6 - Instructor Kathryn Lant. 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 24 through Feb. 28. $50 nonmembers, $45 members.

· Calligraphy workshop for adults and teens - Instructor Christine Tischer. 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 25 through March 1. $70 nonmembers, $63 members.

· Young at art for ages 4 to 6 - Instructor Kathryn Lant. 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. or 2 to 3 p.m. Saturdays Jan. 27 through Feb. 17. $40 nonmembers, $35 members.

· Watercolor workshop for adults and teens - Instructor Bob Wantz. 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays Jan. 31 through March 7. $80 nonmembers, $72 members.

· Drawing with pen and ink for adults and teens - Instructor Mike Gouker. 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays Feb. 1 to March 8. $70 nonmembers, $63 members.
