Cover-worthy photographs sought for competition

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -The Chambersburg Area Council for the Arts and Embarq Yellow Pages have announced the 13th annual photography competition. The winning entries will be published on the covers of the three Embarq Yellow Pages directories that will be distributed in Franklin, Fulton and Washington counties this summer.

The winners of the competition will be awarded a $100 savings bond and have his or her work reproduced on the telephone books that are distributed across these communities. Second-place winners will receive a $50 savings bond.

Entrants must be residents of Franklin or Fulton counties, and the subject must be a Franklin or Fulton county scene (without people, churches or buildings with names on them), in a vertical format 5-inch by 7-inch color print. Within this format, the photo will be enlarged slightly and cropped to fit a curved, narrowed template, as on the current Embarq Yellow Pages directories. The photo will appear on a bright red background.

Submissions are due by2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, and must be accompanied by an entry form, available at the Council for the Arts, 75 S. Main St. There is no entry fee, but entrants will be limited to five entries.

The winning entry will be announced at a reception at the Council's offices from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 20.
