Sixteen pairs competed in the first Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club Championship game of the year Friday night in Hagerstown.

In the overalls, Tina Angle and Jan Hargets finished first in the A, B and C strata with a 59.82-percent game. Joan and Dick Harmon came in second in A and B with 56.14 percent, and Jean Toth and Rick Elbo were third in A with 54.76 percent. Bill and Madeline Davis finished fourth in A and third in B with 53.87 percent, and Ann Carden and Denise Clow were fifth in A with 53.27 percent.

Iris Yonetz and Margaret Peirce tied with Elaine Rowe and Bob Munger for third place in A in section with 52.98 percent, and Aurora and Bruce McDonough were second in B in section with 48.21 percent.

The Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club meets at 7:30 p.m. Fridays at the American Legion on Northern Avenue. All bridge players are welcome. For more information, call 301-797-4627.


Bereavement support group to meet

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Turning Points, a bereavement support group sponsored by Lutheran Home Care Services/Hospice of the Good Shepherd, will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan, 21, in the conference room of Lutheran Home Care Services, south of Chambersburg Mall on Pa. 997. The group is open to any adult who has experienced a loss and who wants to learn more about the grieving process. The group is free. Call Kim McCurdy at 717-217-3527.

Women's Club to meet

Women's Club members are invited to a favorite food luncheon at noon Thursday, Jan. 18, in the Robinwood Room at the Village at Robinwood. Bring a favorite food and recipes to share. Wilda Gift will be the guest speaker and will share her experiences on medical missions to foreign countries. The luncheon is free, but call the club office at 301-739-0870 to register.
