Grace Academy team makes helping its mission

January 15, 2007

The Grace Academy Missions Team has been established to reach out to the community and help those in need, all in the name of Jesus Christ.

If you know of a nonprofit organization that could use the missions team's help on a Saturday morning, call Grace Academy at 301-733-2033.

During December, the Grace Academy Missions Team led its school in collecting toys for Mount Hope Prison Ministries, to be given to inmates' children at "Tree of Hope" Christmas parties. More than 300 toys were collected. Representing the Missions Team were Alyssa Hull, Sarah Stayer, Elizabeth Roane, Jamie Shurnitski, Elizabeth Culp, Keith Sandell, Joel Reynolds and Daniel Frederickson.

On Dec. 20, the Grace Academy Missions Team spent the afternoon volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club. The students planned and led children in making Christmas crafts, playing games, making Christmas cards and acting out the nativity story. They made new friends and had a great time. Participating were Sarah Stayer, Diana Robison, Yolanda Smith, Alyssa Hull, Laura Ritenour, Peter Hykes, Steven Wolfe, Christopher Reiff, Noah King, Daniel Frederickson, Robert Wolfe III, Keith Sandell, Joshua Buwalda. Karis Hull, Lauren Cox, Megan Everett, Kelsie Shaffer and Rebecca Morgan.
