Ryan Physical Therapy Associates

Ryan Physical Therapy Associates will present the latest in its continuing community health seminars, "Helping You Help Yourself," on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. at the office at 1190 Mount Aetna Road, Hagerstown.

The free program, "Start The New Year Off Right!" will focus on how to get started on a weight loss and an exercise program, how to integrate them into your daily routine, and how to stay motivated throughout the entire year.

Live broadcast

Hagerstown Community College's Technical Innovation Center has partnered with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Enterprise Forum and the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge to present a live broadcast entitled "Financial Markets: Outlook 2007" on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Technical Innovation Center conference room on HCC's main campus.

The panel of experts will discuss the influences on the financial markets for 2007 and how they affect one's business.

This event is free and open to the public. Organizers ask that those interested in attending register by Jan. 24 by sending an e-mail to saumm@hagerstowncc.edu or by calling 301-790-2800, ext. 399.

Microsoft Across America

Hagerstown Community College and Microsoft will present a visit by the Microsoft Across America Truck, a state-of-the-art truck loaded with technical products designed to help business- people achieve their goals.

Inside the truck is a hands-on interactive environment complete with Microsoft Windows Vista, the 2007 Microsoft Office System, and Windows Mobile devices.

The truck will be parked near the HCC Valley Mall Center on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those interested will have an opportunity to meet with experts to view live demonstrations and have questions answered. Attendees will learn about specific products from vendors.

Real estate class

A 60-hour course for those wishing to take the Maryland Real Estate Licensing Examination will be offered through Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education beginning Jan. 23.

The course, approved by the State of Maryland Real Estate Commission, will prepare students to take the state exam. The class is taught by a team of local brokers, agents and managers from several real estate companies. Students must attend all classes and receive a 70 percent or better on the final test in order to be eligible to take the state examination.

The class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. on the main campus of HCC. Cost is $279.

Financial goals seminar

FREDERICK, Md. - The Western Maryland Society of Financial Service Professionals and The Western Maryland Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals are presenting a free seminar, "Meeting Your Financial Goals Using Appreciated Stock."

The interactive, two-hour breakfast seminar will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Dutch's Daughter Restaurant, 581 Himes Ave., Frederick.

Arthur H. McGonigal Jr., CFP, CLU, ChFC, CMFC, and John Dallavalle, CPA, will discuss tax implications of appreciated stock and stock affected by pending mergers; scenarios and options to meet financial goals, including planning, gifting to family members, charitable giving, and IRA rollovers; alternative minimum tax - what is it and how is it affected by mergers; and using insurance for asset replacement.

College funding workshop

FREDERICK, Md. - College Funding Associates will hold a free one-hour Power Point Workshop on college attendance and funding. The workshop will be held at The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, 40 S. Carroll St., Frederick, on Jan. 16 and 17 at 7 p.m.
