Barley Snyder LLC

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Silas Ruiz-Steele has joined Barley Snyder LLC, a full-service regional law firm with an office in Chambersburg, as chair of the firm's immigration practice.

Ruiz-Steele's immigration practice focuses on representation of corporate and individual clients in immigration and naturalization matters. She has worked in the immigration law field for more than 10 years.

Prior to joining Barley Snyder, Ruiz-Steele maintained her own practice in which she represented international clients in all phases of immigration law.

Ruiz-Steele received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, her M.S. in foreign service from Georgetown University Graduate School and her B.A. from Manhattanville College, where she was an Oxford University Honors Program participant. She is a member of the Florida State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Hoxton Financial

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Julia M. Connell, MBA, has been promoted to executive vice president of Hoxton Financial's Private Wealth Management unit.

Connell also is a shareholder of the company and manager of its Winchester, Va., office. Hoxton Financial is a fee-only wealth manager with offices in Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

The Woods Resort

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Bivian Henry was named Employee of the Year at The Woods Resort during the annual employee recognition meeting.

Henry, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., was recognized for her pleasant nature and dependable service to The Woods Restaurant as a dishwasher, according to a prepared release.

Dave Hileman was named Employee of the Year for Potomac Valley Properties Inc. Hileman, a punch-out person, has been employed by P.V.P. since 2003.

Other staff members who were recognized as Employees of the Month for 2006 included: Anita McGraw, Joy Cain, Tom Ketchel, Ruth Clark, Amy Clawges, Terry Lynch, Ruth Stevens, Kim Michael, Missy Keefer and Diana Master.

Employees recognized for five years of service include: Hudson Vineyard, Ed Quinn, Michelle Sandri, Jack Johnston, Trish Smith and Gloria Kerns.

Employees with 10 years of service include: Bivian Henry, Tom Seymour, Ellie Seymour and Dave Uppercue.

The First National Bank of Greencastle

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - The following employees of The First National Bank of Greencastle and The First National Bank of McConnellsburg were honored for their years of service:

Tom DeShong, 35 years; Carol Smetzer and Jeff Shank, 30 years; April Snyder, 25 years; Margaret Moore, 20 years; Denise Garnes, Pam Johns and Lisa Daniels, 15 years; and Charlene Briggs, Angie Hager, Connie Burgan, Pauline Yohn, Mike Russo and Bonnie Fields, 10 years.

Joy El Ministries' staff members attended the national conference of the Christian Conference and Camping Association in Philadelphia Nov. 28-30.

Staff members attended daily seminars led by industry experts, selecting seminars from tracks such as nonprofit management, nonprofit fundraising, camp programming, marketing and public relations, and quantity food service. Staff members received educational opportunities specifically on topics such as screening and interviewing summer staff, marketing your brand, guest hospitality, improving nutrition in camp food service, and spiritually advancing the staff.

Valley Mall

Brian Kaltenbaugh has been selected as Valley Mall's marketing director.

Kaltenbaugh will lead the comprehensive marketing program for the mall in Halfway.

Prior to joining Valley Mall, Kaltenbaugh served for seven years as a sales manger for J.C. Penney at Valley Mall.

Kaltenbaugh will be responsible for Valley Mall's strategic marketing programs including advertising, public relations, events and sales promotions, merchant relations and community outreach initiatives.
