January 13, 2007

CASCADE - The Washington County Sheriff's Department is seeking the public's help in finding the person or people responsible for recent vandalism at the former Fort Ritchie U.S. Army base in Cascade, Lt. Mark Knight said.

On Monday, windows to the gym at the former base were reported broken out and fire extinguishers were reported discharged. A nearby construction site also was vandalized, and the former Officers' Club reportedly was broken into, Knight has said.

On Wednesday, windows were reported busted out of buildings, Knight said.

Damages were estimated at nearly $7,000 on the combined vandalism reports.

Anyone with information on the vandalism may call the Washington County Sheriff's Department at 301-791-3020.
