MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Berkeley County Commission's regular meeting scheduled for today was canceled because of a death in Commissioner Ronald K. Collins' family, Commissioner Steve Teufel said Wednesday.
Commissioner William L. "Bill" Stubblefield already was scheduled to be in Bridgeport, W.Va., today to attend a basic training program for new commissioners held by the County Commission Association of West Virginia, Teufel said.
A family emergency caused Teufel to miss last week's regular meeting, when he was nominated by Collins to serve as commission president of the three-member panel for 2007.
Teufel indicated Wednesday he would officially accept Collins' nomination next week if there was a quorum.
