Borough Council approves hiring of 3 police officers

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg will soon be served by three new full-time police officers.

Orion Hippensteel, Joseph McGhee and Mathew Bietsch were approved Monday by the Chambersburg Borough Council to serve as borough police officers.

David Finch, assistant borough manager, said Hippensteel will start immediately at a salary of $18.91 per hour. The borough will pay for McGhee and Bietsch to attend the Act 120 police academy starting Jan. 16, he said. Upon completion of the program, McGhee and Bietsch will start as full-time officers.

Hippensteel has already completed the program.
