You Said It

"I would like to know if the farmers who raise cloned animals eat the meat and take the milk from the cloned animals."

- Williamsport

"We used to say 'To arms, to arms, the British are coming!' Now we must say 'To arms, to arms, the Democrats are coming!'"

- Hagerstown

"This is for the person who said a 10 percent tip is no longer acceptable after an $80 meal - have a little respect and give more than $8. How about telling your employer to pay you enough, we won't have to tip. That's called respect."

- Falling Waters, W.Va.

"Beware, citizens of Smithsburg, or you will wake up and be the size of Boonsboro."

- Washington County

"To the people in Paramount that suggested we recycle and could do better if we were allowed to drop off and pick up reusable things. FYI: When the landfill was in Williamsport on Md. 68, we used to be allowed to do that. If there was something we wanted, the caretaker would say 'go ahead and take it.' The landfill we have today does not allow that for several reasons. First would be the liability issue, but foremost is that the landfill is a business and recycling is part of its livelihood."

"I have been dealing with a serious health problem for several years now and I would just like to say thank you to Cathy and Tara at the Boonsboro lab for being so kind and doing such a great job.You two are always very upbeat and always bring a smile to my face every week. I really appreciate all that you have done for me. Keep up the great work!"

- Boonsboro

"To the server who called in about 10 percent not being acceptable as a tip, it's a slap in the face. Then I guess I'll keep right on slapping because I don't tip by percentage. I tip by the quality of service and most of you don't deserve what I do leave, not to mention that sometimes that $80 dinner comes only after months of pinching pennies to take someone out for a birthday or anniversary. I work hard for what I earn. I'll spend it as I see fit."

"Thank goodness Boonsboro approved the annexation. I know it will never look like that mess the county approved at Meadows Green on Md. 66 or down Rohrersville Pike. Oh, and if you want to save that rural heritage, buy the farms."

- Boonsboro

"I believe some people missed seeing the complete national picture when President Ford pardoned Nixon. I also believe those criticizing the political cartoon in The Morning Herald on Dec. 29 did not see the complete picture. I saw President Ford, although entangled in the unraveling of a nation (the golf bag and cord he was tripping over), making a sacrificial decision to save our nation (leaping to catch the vase labeled 'Rule of Law') when he pardoned Nixon. When Ford made that decision, the Nixon haters thought he was a 'klutz.' History has told us different."

"About the ongoing discussion of dogs going to heaven: I don't know if they go to heaven or not, but wherever they go, I want to go there, also."

- North Pondbank, Pa.

"To Keedysville: Not sure when the coffeehouse is opening in Boonsboro but Ol' Town Sweets is also going to start serving coffee this week, as well as a full coffee bar by the end of the month."

- Boonsboro

"While I'm not against helping people, I do think we should begin first with helping the residents of our city that we live in. I currently work with senior citizens, and each day I see problems where senior citizens are on a fixed income, and sometimes they must choose between their medicine and food. I think we should start by helping them first before bringing other people into the area. Besides, these senior citizens have been lifelong residents of Hagerstown, and if we went to another country, I doubt that we could get the same welcome and government aid as we're giving the refugees being brought over here."

- Hagerstown

"Hey, all you Steelers fans, look in the Webster's dictionary, and the definition of bandwagon fans is the Steelers. When I was growing up in the 1950s and '60s, there were no Steelers fans in this area. It was only after they started winning all the Super Bowls that Steelers fans started showing up. So get over it, Steelers fans. Go, Ravens."

- Hagerstown

"I'm calling about a restaurant. We went to the restaurant last night and every table was reserved. I thought since it's a public restaurant, they had to leave some open."

- Maugansville

"To the writer who wrote the column about the differences between the Steelers and Ravens fans, and how great the Steelers fans are: I hope you noted that at last Sunday's game, there were nothing but mustard-colored seats that were all vacant by halftime. He says that at least when the Steelers win the Super Bowl, they win the Super Bowl. Hopefully, he also knows that the referees help them do that. The other thing I'd mention is, the final score this year between the two teams is 59-7."

- Hagerstown
