January 04, 2007

A Hagerstown woman claimed her $50,000 prize in a Maryland Lottery game, Gail Pelovitz, an agency public affairs officer, said Wednesday.

The person who bought the winning $1 million Countdown to Millions ticket also has contacted the agency, Pelovitz said.

Pelovitz said she could not identify either winner by name.

The game's winning numbers were announced Monday night.

The $50,000 winning ticket was purchased at Valley Mall, while McNamee's Tavern in Fairplay sold the $1 million winner.

Pelovitz said the payout for the $1 million ticket is $672,500 after taxes, and the $50,000 ticket is worth $33,625 after taxes.
