SMITHSBURG - In 2006, Smithsburg Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to 134 calls for trouble breathing, 110 calls for chest pain, and 128 calls for vehicle and pedestrian accidents, according to Capt. James Ulrich.
Of the 1,085 total calls for the year, 209 were in Smithsburg town limits, 141 were to the Leitersburg area, 117 were to Frederick County and 40 were to Franklin County, Pa.
Another 98 calls were in the Hagerstown area, 78 in the Mount Aetna area and 62 in the Cascade area.
