City man charged with sex offenses

A Hagerstown man who allegedly raped a woman at her home was at the Washington County Detention Center Wednesday night, a jail employee said.

Royland Jones, 38, of 452 Park Place, was charged with first-degree rape, second-degree rape, first-degree sex offense and first-degree assault, according to Washington County District Court records.

On Dec. 19, Jones entered a female acquaintance's home in the 200 block of West Side Avenue in Hagerstown, then raped her, according to a charging document.


Jones had lived with the victim shortly before the incident, and he eventually returned the house keys she had given to him, according to the document. The document alleges Jones also physically assaulted the victim in separate incidents on Dec. 20 and 21.

Jones could face life in prison if he is found guilty of the most serious charges he faces.

Bail was set at $200,000 for Jones, according to court records.

Inmate faces charges in stabbing incident

An man who now is an inmate at Western Correctional Institution in Cumberland, Md., faces charges after allegedly stabbing a Roxbury Correctional Institution inmate in the ear, according to Washington County District Court records.

Tione Kenneth Blake, 28, was charged with four counts, including first-degree assault on an inmate, according to court records.

Blake allegedly stabbed the inmate in the left ear with a homemade knife on Oct. 23, according to a charging document. The victim was treated at Washington County Hospital and returned to Roxbury Correctional Institution on Oct. 27, according to the document.
