For the record

December 24, 2006

A check for $76,495 was presented to the Fulton County Medical Center on Dec. 11 from the Fulton County Economic Development Corporation. The funds were part of a matching grant received through the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Job Training Fund Equipment Grant.

The grant is a result of a collaborative effort with the Fulton County Economic Development Corporation, Fulton County Medical Center, and Fulton County Area Vocational-Technical School.

The grant funds will be used to purchase state-of-the-art equipment to be used, during clinical rotations, to train students entering the Allied Health field at the Fulton County Vo-Tech. Newly hired FCMC employees as well as current employees will also benefit by using this equipment to verify competencies and upgrade their credentials.

The grant also paid 50 percent of a new Mammography Unit to be used at the new facility.

The Fulton County Medical Center (FCMC) is a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation which owns and operates an 82-bed critical access hospital and skilled nursing care facility. FCMC is in the midst of a $37.5 million dollar replacement facility expected to be completed by December 2007.
