What's the best part about the holidays?

It's not all about the cool stuff you find under the tree, according to the third-graders in Miss Anne Loving's class at Paramount Elementary School, north of Hagerstown.

Here's what they had to say when posed the question: What's the best part about the holidays?

"It's kind of fun because you can enjoy your family and stuff, and you can play with your friends, just enjoying how good it is."

- Christopher Smith, 8

"Well, celebrating with family, doing kind of special things and having fun with your family."

- Shane Thrailkill, 8

"I like seeing my family and little kids opening presents, like my brother and sister opening their stockings because they're all excited about Santa Claus."

- Anna Scheck, 8

"Well, just getting together with family and stuff. Waking up Christmas morning and seeing presents under the tree."

- Natalie Miller, 8

"Celebrating the birth of Jesus. I like to go to church and sing a lot of Christmas songs. I also like (that) every year at my church we have this Christmas musical thing, and this year I'm in it."

- Natalie Robinson, 8

"Really, giving goods out and presents. Good cakes, good kinds of food. And it's snowy, so you can go out and make snowmen."

- John Emswiler, 8
