He is survived by three daughters, Barbara A. Moats, Sarah J. Scott and Vickie L. Grove, all of Hagerstown; one son, Marvin L. Bowers of Hagerstown; one sister, Frances Monninger; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; his companion, Madge Miller of Sharpsburg; and his close friend, Duane Moser of Hagerstown.

He was preceded in death by four sons, Eddie Bowers, Fuzzy Bowers, Gregory Bowers and Nelson Bowers; one daughter, Mary Creager; one sister, Beverly Blair; and one grandson, Steve Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Douglas A. Courter will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Family requests omission of flowers, and memorial donations to Hospice of Washington County, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Meredith S. McLaughlin, 23

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Meredith Sue McLaughlin, 23, of 4192 Wilhelm Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, in Frederick, Md.


Born March 26, 1983, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of Darrell C. and Susan L. McCulloh McLaughlin of Chambersburg.

She was a 2001 graduate of James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg, Pa. and attended Hagerstown Business College.

She was employed by Citicorp in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Otterbein Church in Waynesboro, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Drew S. McLaughlin of Pittsburgh.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Otterbein Church in Waynesboro. The Revs. Michael V. Newman and Lester Stine will officiate.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg.

There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Robert L. Hoover, 67

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Robert L. Hoover, 67, of 1024 Warm Spring Road, Lot 34, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services in Chambersburg.

Born June 27, 1939, in Greencastle, Pa., he was the son of the late Jacob H. and Helen M. Ritchey Hoover.

He was employed as a custodian in the Chambersburg Area School District for 30 years, retiring in 2004.

He was a member of Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319 in Greencastle, and St. Thomas American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria K. "Vicky" Reed Hoover, whom he married Sept. 28, 1992; one stepson, Troy A. Ericson of Fayetteville, Pa.; two sisters, Gladys A. Shifflett of Williamson, Pa., and Mary E. Myers of Waynesboro, Pa.; one half-sister, Mary L. Johnson of Waynesboro; two stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene E. Mowen and Phyllis J. Hoover; and one brother, William H. Hoover.

Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home in Greencastle. Chaplain Chuck Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Preston E. Draper, 23

JULY 19, 1983-DEC. 20, 2006

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Preston Edward Draper, 23, of Middletown, Md., died peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning, Dec. 20, 2006, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the son of Sam and Karen Draper and the brother of Samantha Draper, all of Middletown.

Preston was born July 19, 1983, in Honesdale, Pa. He was a student at Myersville Elementary School and Rock Creek School. After graduation from Rock Creek in 2004, he attended Star Community's Day Ventures program in Hagerstown. Preston was involved in many community activities during his lifetime. He volunteered as a greeter at Homewood at Crumland Farms, Kmart and Frantz's Produce. He was a member of Grace Community Church.

Pres enjoyed an active and fun life with his family and friends. Some of his best memories were time spent watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, cheering for the Hokie and Terps football teams, taking hikes on the towpath, rides with his dad and Cooper on the weekends, eating ice cream and hanging out with family and friends.

He had a great love for all his family and friends and his spirit will continue in all their lives. In addition to his parents, Sam and Karen, and sister, Samantha, Preston is survived by his Grammy Jane Hannigan, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Emory Preston and B. Lorraine Draper of Boonsboro and his granddad Joseph Edward Hannigan of Middletown.

The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 22, at the Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro from 6 to 9 p.m.

A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at Grace Community Church, 5102 Old National Pike, Frederick with Pastor Mike Brubaker officiating. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
