American Legion post donates $1,100 to The Salvation Army

The Hagerstown Corps of The Salvation Army received cash donations from Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211 of Funkstown.

Post Commander John Bumbaugh presented Maj. Robert Lyle, commanding officer, with a check for $500 from the post. Pearl Bumbaugh, auxiliary unit president, also presented a check for $500 to the corps, and Commander Matt Smith of the Sons of the American Legion gave a check for $100.

The money is designated for food baskets for needy families. In addition, packages of hats, mittens, stockings and gloves were given.

Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211 long has been a supporter of The Salvation Army through their bell ringing and other gifts.

The Salvation Army will be assisting more than 800 families in Hagerstown and throughout Washington County this holiday season.
