BOYS BASKETBALL



WILLIAMSPORT - Will Taylor put back a missed free throw with six seconds remaining to lift Williamsport to a 65-63 victory over highly regarded Winters Mill on Tuesday.

Taylor had a team-high 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Wildcats (2-1). Chad Poffenberger had 16 points and Sean Dixon had 14 points and seven rebounds.

Williamsport jumped out to a 12-point halftime lead, but Winters Mill - the preseason favorite in the MVAL Piedmont Conference - surged in the third quarter to cut its deficit to three and eventually built a six-point lead with 1:20 left in the game before Williamsport rallied.

The Wildcats held Jimmy Dorsey, last year's Carroll County player of the year, to nine points.

Chambersburg 48, C. Dauphin 42

COLONIAL PARK, Pa. - Armond Perez had 15 points and 13 rebounds as Chambersburg held on to beat Central Dauphin in a Mid-Penn Commonwealth game and remain undefeated.

The Trojans made just 4 of 15 free throws on the night, allowing Central Dauphin (3-4, 2-2) to stay close.

Devonte Merritt added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Trojans (6-0, 4-0).

Faith Christian 62, Broadfording 47

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Caleb Way had 16 points and seven assists as Faith Christian beat Broadfording in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference matchup.

Chris Apple had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Falcons (6-1, 3-1), while Austin Arvon scored 10 points.

Spencer Leggett had 12 points and Ethan Reynolds added 11 for the Lions (2-6, 0-5).

Heritage 60, New Life 45

FREDERICK, Md. - Steven Barthalow had 31 points and eight steals as Heritage Academy rolled past New Life Christian in an MDCC game.

Hamilton Stamper added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Eagles, (7-2, 6-0) while Matt Shank had seven points and eight rebounds.

David Fuez scored 18 points, all from behind the 3-point line, for the Rams (0-7, 0-5).

Shalom 46, Grace 43

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jamie Heckman had 15 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks but Grace Academy couldn't recover from a nine-point halftime deficit in an MDCC loss to Shalom Christian.

Caleb Hussack led the Flames (3-4, 2-2) with 14 points, while Tyler Petersheim added 11.

Nick Bunting scored a game-high 20 points for Grace (4-6, 2-3).

No. Bedford 44, Southern Fulton 43

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Brad Divel scored 10 points and Jeremy Clingerman added eight points and eight rebounds for Southern Fulton in a Sideling Hill League loss to Northern Bedford.

Zach Mellott had four steals and three assists for the Indians (3-3, 2-3).

Everett 46, McConnellsburg 40

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - J.J. Grace was 12 of 17 from the foul line and finished with 18 points and six rebounds for McConnellsburg in the Spartans' loss to Everett (5-2, 3-1) in the Sideling Hill League.

Russell Glazier scored 13 points and Mike Defibaugh added 10 rebounds and four steals for the Spartans (4-3, 1-3).

Keyser 65, Berkeley Springs 47

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Rebecca Trump had 20 points and Alex Tamez had eight points and seven rebounds as Berkeley Springs (3-3, 0-2) lost to previously winless Keyser (1-4, 1-2) in a Potomac Valley Conference game.

Clarke County 36, Hedgesville 35

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Ashton Butler scored 18 points for Hedgeville in a one-point loss to Clarke County.

The Eagles (1-2) made just 9 of 24 free throws.

Heritage 47, New Life 36

FREDERICK, Md. - Morgan McIntire had 22 points, nine steals, eight rebounds and four assists as Heritage Academy beat New Life to remain undefeated in the MDCC.

Jennifer King had eight points, eight rebounds and three steals, while Brittany Eberly had seven points and 11 rebounds and Brianna Dorsey added eight steals and seven boards for Heritage (7-1, 5-0).

Grace 48, Shalom 29

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Megan Cox recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 steals as Grace Academy defeated Shalom Christian in an MDCC game.

Kelsey Shaffer had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Knights (6-2, 3-1), while Rebecca Morgan added 10 points and eight steals and Megan Everett had seven rebounds.

Christina Hussack had eight rebounds and three blocks for Shalom (3-4, 2-2).

Faith 32, Broadfording 31

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Roberta Brancato led all scorers with 15 points as Faith Christian (3-5, 2-2) edged Broadfording in an MDCC matchup.

Emma Stahl had 11 rebounds for the Lions (2-8, 1-4), while Tara Shafer added eight points and eight rebounds.
