North Welty plan receives final approval

December 19, 2006|by KATE S. ALEXANDER

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Years of meetings and re-drafted plans finally came to end for one developer Monday.

In a unanimous decision, Washington Township supervisors voted to approve the updated final plan of developer North Welty LLC and the proposed Antietam Commons development.

Township Manager Mike Christopher said the decision Monday only involved 87 units in the 221-unit development. The updated plans changed lot sizes of the 87 multi-family homes and created open space where residents of the development could walk to and from recreation areas.

"This is just a redo, a reconfiguration of the original plans," he said.

Christopher said the decision should be the last for the developer which can begin construction as soon as plans are recorded with the courthouse.
