Local grad directs museums

December 18, 2006

Angela DeVore, a 1998 graduate of Williamsport High School, has spent the past seven months as on-site art director for two new museums in Hemet, Calif., about 45 minutes southwest of Palm Springs, Calif.

The museums - The Western Center for Archaeology & Paleontology and The Center for Water Education - are near Diamond Valley Lake, a manmade reservoir.

DeVore has been in charge of the creative installation of all the museums' contents, as well as the staff. The job has included the design of computer graphics, signage and lighting, constructing exhibits and installing 3-D props for both museums, said Ralph DeVore, Angela DeVore's father. Hands-on displays have been created for visitors, as well.

The budget for the museums' exhibits is $9 million.

For two years prior to this project, DeVore worked for the E! network's television show "True Hollywood Stories." She did the art direction for shows about Richard Dreyfuss, Steve Martin, Beyonce, Kurt Russell, and Jessica and Ashlee Simpson.
