Citifinancial, a financial services company specializing in personal and home equity loans, opened a branch at 71 Eastern Blvd. in Hagerstown on Nov. 28.

Timothy Rippeon is manager of the new branch. He most recently worked for Citifinancial's office in Westminster, Md.

Other members of the Hagerstown team are Amber Wallech and Brandy Booth.

Cityfinancial's office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Bowers Insurance

The Hartford Financial Group has appointed Bowers Insurance Inc. as an agent for its personal lines insurance products for the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.


Jeff Bowers, vice president and head of Bowers Insurance's personal lines division, said in a written release that the addition of The Hartford's line of products and its financial strength and stability broadens Bowers' ability to serve home and auto owners.

Associated Builders & Contractors

The Associated Builders & Contractors Inc. Cumberland Valley Chapter held an open house at its new facility on Nov. 28.

The evening was the kickoff of the ABC Cumberland Valley Chapter's Capitol Campaign Drive. Members and guests were invited to the Barr Construction Institute at 530 N. Locust St. in Hagerstown.

The plan is for the three-story, 18,246 square-foot building to provide training for the construction trades and to serve as an educational center to expand existing programs provided for school systems, hospitals, manufacturers, and the like, in the region.
