HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Ashton Butler scored 20 of her game-high 29 points in the second half to lead Hedgesville to its first win of the season, a 55-42 victory over Hampshire on Thursday.

Butler was shut out in the second quarter, but responded with 16 third-quarter points to spark the Eagles (1-1). Ciera Nicholson and Brittany Board each added 10 points.

Julieanne Buckley led Hampshire (2-1) with 15 points and Ashley Heavener had 10.

North Hagerstown 60, Urbana 48

IJAMSVILLE, Md. - North Hagerstown had three players post double-doubles and another come up one point shy as the Hubs knocked off Urbana in MVAL nonconference action.

Shawayna Morel had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Cara Thompson had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Valentina Wheeler had 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Hubs (3-1). Larae Allen added nine points and 10 rebounds and Thompson dished out five assists.


Everett 55, S. Fulton 43

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Nathasha Bard had 18 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Southern Fulton dropped its first game of the season to undefeated Everett

Destane Whiteside had nine points and Shelly Diehl had nine rebounds for the Indians (3-1, 3-1 Sideling Hill League). Sam Bain had five assists before fouling out.

Tussey Mountain 43, McConnellsburg 40

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Courtney McClure led McConnellsburg (2-4, 0-2) with 12 points in its Sideling Hill League loss to Tussey Mountain.

Grace 53, New Life 38

FREDERICK, Md. - Rebecca Morgan had 14 points and nine steals as Grace Academy beat New Life Christian in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference.

Megan Cox had a team-high 17 points and Megan Everett hauled in 16 rebounds for the Knights (4-2, 2-1).

NDA 93, Mercersburg 11

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Nationally ranked Notre Dame Academy scored 35 first-quarter points and forced a total of 36 turnovers as it rolled past Mercersburg Academy on Wednesday.

Morgan Wrightson had 19 points to lead the Dragons (7-0), who are ranked 14th by USA Today.

Jenn Dillion led the Blue Storm (1-3) with four points.

Waynesboro 44, Scotland 38

SCOTLAND, Pa. - Mallory Wishard had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Waynesboro over Scotland (3-2, 1-1) in a Mid-Penn Capital game.

Kelsey Wagaman had 13 points, Jill Aldridge had eight rebounds and Jenna Lininger had seven steals and four assists for the Maidens (3-2, 2-0).


Grace 70, New Life 62

FREDERICK, Md. - Zack Koontz had 19 points, 16 rebounds and six steals and Grace Academy outscored New Life Christian 27-12 in the fourth quarter to pull away to an MDCC victory.

Jamie Heckman led the Knights (4-4, 2-2) with 30 points and also grabbed nine rebounds. Nick Bunting added 18 points and Tim Carver had nine rebounds.

Faith 57, Hancock 47

HANCOCK - Derek Apple had a game-high 22 points and nine rebounds to lead Faith Christian over Hancock.

Austin Arvon had 16 points, Justin Walls had 13 points and Jacob Cave had nine rebounds for the Falcons (4-1).

Dustin Hull had 12 points, Steven Beaver had 11 points and Josh Unger had 10 points, sevenrebounds and five assists for the Panthers (0-4).


MERCERSBURG, Pa. - The Jefferson boys and girls swimming teams dropped their first meets of the season as they were swept by James Buchanan.

Tiffany Hamilton won the 50-yard freestyle in 28.18 seconds for the Jefferson girls (5-1), who fell, 105-71.

The Jefferson boys (4-1) dropped an 88-79 decision. Will Corley won the 50 freestyle in 25.78 for the Cougars.
