Franklin Co. to host block grant meeting

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Franklin County Planning Department will host an informational meeting about community development block grants at 2 p.m. Dec. 20 in the Franklin County Administrative Annex at 218 N. Second St.

Application procedures and questions about qualifying projects will be discussed, and applications will be available.

Pa. meeting to focus on joint planning

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A public meeting concerning the comprehensive plan being developed for the Borough of Greencastle, Antrim Township and Greencastle-Antrim School District will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Greencastle-Antrim High School.

The first half hour of the meeting will be an informal meet-and-greet.

The plan creates a vision for the future of the region, and the public is invited to provide input.

Mountain Christmas event set for Saturday

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - The Mountain Heritage Christmas planned for Saturday includes a showcase of churches, Civil War church service, caroling and Christmas tree lighting.

The churches' open house from 4 to 6 p.m. features St. Stephen's United Church of Christ in Cascade, Wesley Chapel Methodist Church of Fairfield, Pa., St. John's United Church of Christ of Sabillasville, Md., and Living Word Ministries and the Church of Transfiguration of Blue Ridge Summit.

The Civil War church service scheduled for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. will be at Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blue Ridge Summit.

Caroling, cocoa and cookies will be available at the Blue Ridge Free Library from 8 to 9 p.m. Ornaments can be donated there.

Flu shots available in Frederick County

FREDERICK, Md. - The Frederick County Health Department will continue to administer flu vaccine until supplies are exhausted, according to a department news release.

Appointments are required. Call 301-631-3342 for more information.

Flu shots, FluMist and pneumonia vaccine are available. Payment can be made with cash or check; credit or debit cards are not accepted. If you have Medicare Part B, bring your card.
