Scholarship to be awarded

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded by Gold's Gym when it hosts its boys basketball event Friday at Hedgesville High School.

Hedgesville will host Georgetown Day at 3 p.m. and Musselman will play Lewis County at 7 p.m.

Eagles coach Kelly Church said Gold's Gym will present the scholarship during halftime of the Hedgesville game to a nonbasketball-playing Hedgesville student-athlete who has achieved a minimum 3.2 grade-point average and has missed less than four days in school.

A list of 10 finalists will have been whittled down to the last two, or three, according to Church and the winner will be selected on the court in a shooting contest.
