Councilman: Chamber would be good spot for performing arts

December 14, 2006|by ERIN JULIUS

HANCOCK - Hancock Town Councilman Sinclair Hamilton proposed refurbishing the town's council chamber for use as a performing arts stage at Wednesday night's town council meeting.

Hamilton, who also serves as co-chair of the Hancock Arts Council, said the stage in the chamber, which is used as a storage area, would be a good spot for music events, dances and plays, and would help with the economic rejuvenation of the town.

Town Manager David Smith expressed concern about where the police equipment stored on the stage would be moved, where the Lions Club would move items that are stored in the council chamber and the cost of refurbishing the room.
