First day on the job

HAGERSTOWN - Martin E. Brubaker, on a 3-1 vote Tuesday, was officially appointed to a vacant seat on the Hagerstown City Council.

Council members Lewis C. Metzner, Alesia D. Parson-McBean and Kelly S. Cromer voted in favor of the appointment, while Penny M. Nigh opposed it.

Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II swore in Brubaker on Tuesday, and the former urban planner was selected to be an ex officio member on the Hagerstown Planning Commission.
