CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County Dairy Day will be Jan. 3, 2007, at Kauffman's Community Center in Chambersburg.
Topics include sexed semen and feeding high concentrate, low forage rations in a restricted manner to growing dairy heifers.
Guest speakers will be Dr. Mark Varner, of the University of Maryland, and Dr. Jud Heinrichs, of Penn State University.
Agri-business firms will co-sponsor the meeting and have exhibits and representatives present.
Area dairy producers are invited to arrive at 9:15 a.m. to visit the exhibits and have refreshments. The formal program begins at 10 a.m. and will end with a lunch.
There is no charge to attend and lunch is provided.
Directions to Kauffman Ruritan Community Center are:
Take Interstate 81 to Exit 10 (Marion). Proceed west on Pa. 914 one mile to U.S. 11. Go south on U.S. 11 for two miles. Turn left onto Kauffman Road at "Crossroad Dairy Farms." Go 0.8 miles and turn left onto Angle Road. Proceed 0.2 miles to Kauffman Street. You will see a Kauffman Ruritan Community Center sign. Turn left and follow street to stop sign. Turn left and you will see the community center straight ahead.
