Hagerstown Kiwanis picks new officers

New officers of the Kiwanis of Hagerstown were elected recently.

Installed by Fred Lohnes, lieutenant governor for the Kiwanis Capital District, the new officers include Eric Reed, president; Larry Kershner, 1st vice president; Michael Gardner, 2nd vice president; James Deaner, secretary; James Snead, treasurer; and Christian Wright, immediate past president.

Also included in the ceremony were the chairpersons of the club committees, Fred Nugent, membership and public relations; Rochelle Morrell, young children priority one; Matt Nugent, fundraising; Ward Childerston, human and spiritual values; Harry Barger, club administration; John Roney, youth services; Chad Brashears, community services; and Wil Slifer, sponsored youth.

The Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown made donations totaling approximately $30,000 to youth programs at Bester School, Eastern Elementary School, The Salvation Army, Girls Inc., The Boys and Girls Club and Children's Village among many others.

Club members do weekly reading at child care centers throughout the city such as at Hagerstown Grace Brethren, Surrey, Robinwood and the Hagerstown Day Nursery.

New members include Maj. Robert Lyle, Denise Apple, Bill Divelbiss, C. J. Johnson, Donna Long and John Massey.
