INWOOD, W.Va. - A man died at City Hospital after a hit-and-run accident on Winchester Avenue in Darkesville, W.Va., according to West Virginia State Police.

Troopers K.D. Castle and D.S. See responded to the 6000 block of Winchester Avenue about a call of a hit-and-run accident near My Club bar at about 9:10 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The troopers found a white male in his late 30s on his back in a yard at a nearby house, police said.

The driver of the car that was struck - as well as witnesses - tried to stop Hendrickson from leaving the scene, police said. Hendrickson parked his car behind the bar and attempted to leave the area, police said.

Hendrickson was taken to City Hospital and later died there, according to state police, who were continuing an investigation.
