Leon Nelson had 17 points and 13 rebounds for Hagerstown Community College in a loss to Brunswick (N.C.).

Marcus Sugars had 12 points, Tommy Cox had 10 points and Mike Marsh scored eight for the Hawks (1-6).

McAbee named to All-America Second Team

BALTIMORE - Johns Hopkins junior midfielder Ben McAbee, a North Hagerstown graduate, was recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III All-America Second Team.

McAbee scored a team-high 11 goals and had seven assists, leading the Blue Jays to a 19-2-2 record, the Centennial Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.

Clingan qualifies for nationals

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Frostburg State University junior Jessica Clingan, a Williamsport graduate, recently qualified for the NCAA Division III championships in the 60-meter hurdles at the WVU Holiday Classic.

Clingan placed seventh in the race in a personal-best time of 9.10 seconds.

She also placed fourth in the 800 (2:31.84) and ran a leg of the sixth-place 1,600 relay (4:17.02).
