First Team



Treavor Gelsinger, Sr., F, Greencastle
Player of the Year

Gelsinger is the Player of the Year for the second straight year after a spectacular senior season in which he scored 38 goals, dished out 11 assists, finished tied for the Tri-State lead with 87 points and led all players with a 4.58-points-per-game average. He also won Mid-Penn Capital Player of the Year honors for the third straight season.

Gordon Cohen, Sr., D, Jefferson

A West Virginia Sports Writers Association all-state first-team selection, Cohen helped anchor a strong Cougars defense that allowed just 21 goals in 24 games.

Kevin Cramer, Jr., F, Chambersburg

A first-team selection in the rugged Mid-Penn Commonwealth, Cramer led the Trojans in scoring with 6 goals and 5 assists for 17 points.

Rashid Deen, Sr., F, Hedgesville

A W.Va. writers all-state first-team pick and a second-team selection on the West Virginia High School Soccer Coaches Association Class AAA all-state team, Deen led the Eagles' offense with 25 goals and 4 assists for 54 points.

David Fuelhart, Sr., D, Jefferson

Fuelhart teamed with Cohen to form Cougars' formidable back wall, and for his efforts was named to the W.Va. coaches AAA second team.

Jaren Gembe, Sr., M, Greencastle

A Mid-Penn Capital first-team selection, Gembe came on late in the season and scored 10 goals in a four-game span on his way to a 13-goal, 7-assist campaign, good for 33 points.

Corey Grove, Sr., M, Chambersburg

Grove, a Mid-Penn Commonwealth first-team selection, starred both offensively (5 goals, 3 assists) and defensively for the Trojans, who allowed just 17 goals in 17 games.

Dion Lehman, Sr., M, James Buchanan

Lehman was selected to the Mid-Penn Capital first team after recording 8 goals and 6 assists for 22 points for the Rockets.

Evan Mellott, Sr., F, McConnellsburg

Mellott was the Tri-State's top goal-scorer with 42 strikes for the Spartans, who reached the PIAA District 5-A semifinals; he added 3 assists for 87 total points, tying Gelsinger for tops in the area.

Trent Reid, Sr., F, Martinsburg

A first-team selection to both the W.Va. writers and W.Va. coaches AAA all-state teams, Reed recorded 28 goals and 4 assists for 60 points in just 14 games; his 4.29-points-per-game average was second-best in the Tri-State.

Adam Roque, Sr., M, Jefferson

Roque earned second-team honors on both the W.Va. writers and W.Va. coaches AAA all-state teams after an 8-goal, 14-assist campaign good for 30 points.

Alex Swartz, Jr., D, Chambersburg

Swartz was the anchor of the Trojans' often-impenetrable back line, which was a major reason why Chambersburg finished second in the Mid-Penn Commonwealth.

Matt Tiano, Sr., F, Jefferson

Tiano won the W.Va. coaches AAA Forward of the Year award following a 27-goal, 12-assist season good for 66 points, fourth-best in the Tri-State; he was also selected to the W.Va. writers first team.

D.J. Upson, Jr., F, Jefferson

Another of the formidable scoring threats who carried the Cougars to a 22-1-1 record and the W.Va. Class AAA semifinals, Upson finished with 23 goals and 5 assists for 51 points.

Derek Walls, Sr., G, Jefferson

A second-team selection to both the W.Va. writers and W.Va. coaches AAA all-state teams, Walls allowed just 15 goals while posting 10 shutouts and an area-best 0.63 goals-against average.

Coach of the Year

Grove guided the Trojans to their best record in years (10-4-3) in the toughest conference any Tri-State team plays in, building the team through solid defensive play and a share-the-ball approach on an offense devoid of superstars but filled with contributors.
