Council reviews snow removal policy



City public works staff reviewed its snow removal and plowing policies with the Hagerstown City Council on Tuesday.

Staff maintains five "conditions" that measure the severity and types of storms. Those conditions take temperature, precipitation and road surface into account.

The average cost of snow plowing and removal each season is almost $312,000.




City OKs agreements on ex-MELP property



The Hagerstown City Council on Tuesday accepted deed and lease agreements concerning almost 9 1/2 acres of the former MELP property on East Memorial Boulevard.

The city will take ownership of the property from Newstech MD LP and lease it to Cascades Tissue Group-MD LLC with an annual adjustable rent payment. That payment is currently $3,843.91.
