Dollar store on tap to reopen by Christmas

December 06, 2006|by KATE S. ALEXANDER

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The downtown Waynesboro Dollar General store damaged by fire this summer will reopen Dec. 23, a company spokeswoman said.

Workers began constructing shelves in the 51 W. Main Street store on Tuesday to prepare for the December grand opening.

Tawn Earnest, senior director of corporate communications for Dollar General, said the store will feature a new "race track" design, used by the company since July 2006.

"The new design will take customers from the front, around the store quickly," she said.

Earnest said the new design will make shopping at Dollar General "simpler" by featuring core products along the perimeter, "treasure hunt" bargains in the middle and lower shelving throughout for a clear sight line of the entire store.
