Army Pvt. Derek M. Crist, son of Keith and Tammy Crist of Sharpsburg, and brother of Brad Crist of College Park, Md., graduated Oct. 6 from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Crist is in AIT for Field Artillery Tactical Data System Specialist at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Following AIT, Crist is scheduled for Basic Airborne Training at Fort Benning, Ga.

Crist is a 2005 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

Army Pvt. Joshua B. Reed, son of Angela Reed of Williamsport and Robbie Reed of West Virginia, brother of Carli Reed and grandson of Jeannie McSherry of Williamsport, graduated Nov. 22 from basic training at Fort Sill, Okla.

Reed will go to Fort Huachuca in Arizona for training in Human Intell Collector.

Aaron D. Taylor, son of Allen and Erma Taylor of Hagerstown, recently returned from almost a yearlong deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.


Taylor is s member of the 1st Squadron, 33rd Calvary Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team and 101st Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky.

Taylor is a 2002 graduate of Broadfording Christian Academy.

He is married to the former Ashlee Forrest of Boonsboro.

Pvt. Bruce Storms, son of Mike and Jennie Storms of Manitowoc, Wis., graduated Oct. 27 from basic training at Fort Sill, Okla.

Storms was in the 1-22 FA 1st PLT Regulators.

He left Oct. 28 for Alabama for AIT training.

Storms attended Smithsburg schools from 1997 to 2003. He is a 2005 graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc.

Storms has a son, Jordan, of Manitowoc; four sisters; and one brother.

Army Reserve Pfc. Maria D. Smith, granddaughter of Hellen Schwartzbeck of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
