Elementary students earn art scholarships

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts awarded scholarships to elementary students in Washington County Public Schools because of their love of art and exceptional artistic talent.

The scholarships will enable the students to take one free art class of their choice at the museum.

The scholarships were sponsored by the Richard N. and Janet K. Funkhouser Foundation. For more information on how to sponsor an art scholarship, contact Amy Blank-Rowland, museum educator, at 301-739-5727, ext. 24

Each student was nominated by a teacher.

The following students received scholarships:

· Marissa Hernandez, a fourth-grader at Eastern Elementary School

· Josh Kisalita, a fifth-grader at Hickory Elementary School

· Anthony Rosario, a fifth-grader at Pangborn Elementary School

· Jacob Simmons, a second-grader at Winter Street Elementary School

· Naomi Smith, a third-grader at Potomac Heights Elementary School


· Matthew Sollenberger, a fifth-grader at Bester Elementary School

· Jessica Trumble, a second-grader at Salem Avenue Elementary School

· Joshua Weiss, a fourth-grader at Lincolnshire Elementary School
