Robbers steal cash from Venice Inn

Two black males who threatened a hotel clerk fled on foot Sunday after stealing cash from Venice Inn, a Hagerstown Police Department officer said.

Sgt. David Long said the robbers never showed a gun, but they said they had one. One of the robbers was wearing a black coat, and the other was wearing a gray coat, he said.

A public communications officer for the department said the robbery happened at about 7:30 p.m.

Apparent robbery attempt thwarted

FREDERICK, Md. - A female who attempted to rob some people at gunpoint was injured by males who fought back during an incident in the 1400 block of Taney Avenue, the Frederick Police Department said.

The police said a female with a gun attempted to rob the residents of an Applegate Apartment unit after she broke in shortly before 5 p.m. Friday. Male residents at the apartment fought with the female, and she was stabbed in the stomach, police said. The female then left the apartment without taking any money, police said.


A short time after the attempted robbery, police said a female went to Frederick Memorial Hospital with a stab wound to the stomach. The investigation was continuing.

Person treated following assault

FREDERICK, Md. - A person was flown to Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after a reported assault, the Frederick Police Department said.

Police said they found the victim, who had head injuries, in a yard after they responded to an assault in progress near the 200 block of East Fifth Street at about 7:40 p.m. Thursday.

Police said witnesses reported seeing several white males in their teens or early 20s running north toward East Sixth Street. Police are asking people with information about the incident to call the Criminal Investigation Division at 301-694-2100.

Girl, 17, faces charges after crash

FREDERICK, Md. - A 17-year-old who allegedly left the scene of an accident faces numerous charges, the Frederick Police Department said.

The motorist was stopped in the 1700 block of Carriage Way after police said they learned about an accident at 10:38 p.m. Saturday. The girl is charged with failure to stop after an accident that causes damage, failure to locate and notify owner of unattended vehicle damage, failure of driver to furnish identification information, driving without a license and driving a rental vehicle in violation of a rental agreement.

Driver faces host of charges in Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. - A motorist who police tried to pull over for spinning wheels allegedly drove through two red lights before crashing into a median Saturday, the Frederick Police Department said.

Sean Lekal Currin, 22, of Dumfries, Va., is charged with spinning wheels, reckless driving, negligent driving, fleeing and eluding, revoked out-of-state license, DUI, aggressive driving, speeding and false statement to police, police said. Police said they first tried to pull over Currin at about 2 a.m. Saturday near West College Terrace.

Christmas decorations stolen from Pa. homes

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Christmas decorations were stolen from two homes in Mercersburg, Pa., and Greencastle, Pa., late Friday or early Saturday, police said.

The value of the items was estimated at $185, Pennsylvania State Police said.

A snowman-on-skates lawn ornament was taken from a home in the 9000 block of Harrytown Road in Mercersburg, and an inflatable snowman was taken from a home in the 8000 block of Kuhn Road in Greencastle.

Pa. man faces assault charge

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A 23-year-old Chambersburg man was charged with simple assault Friday for allegedly striking a young girl.

Pennsylvania State Police said Laterreine Day, 23, became angry with the juvenile and struck her body six times with a closed fist. They were in the 1500 block of Palm Spring Drive at the time.

The girl is a Chambersburg resident, police said.

Day was being held in Franklin County Prison on $5,000 bond, police said.

Muffler reported stolen from vehicle

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police said they are investigating the theft of a muffler from a blue Ford Mustang.

The performance muffler was stolen between Nov. 26 and 28 from the 600 block of Leitersburg Road, police said.

Burglaries reported near Greencastle

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating two burglaries in Greencastle that happened Thursday.

Police said a man at 1105 Williamson Road said that someone shot a round from a small-caliber firearm into his home and entered the home Thursday. Several items, including money, a gun-cleaning kit and ammunition were taken from the home, police said.

A resident in the 5600 block of Stone Bridge Road reported a similar type of burglary that same day. Several items were stolen from the home, including a camera and a DVD/VCR recorder.
