Tree lighting in park is moved to Saturday

December 01, 2006

The annual City Park Christmas decoration lighting, which was scheduled for tonight, has been postponed until Saturday because of weather concerns, according to a City of Hagerstown press release.

The lighting of 3,000 luminarias and decorations will be Saturday at 6 p.m. After the lighting, a reception will be at the Jonathan Hager House. The Mansion House Art Center and the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will be open. Entertainment is planned at each location.

Volunteers are still needed to help set up and tear down the luminarias. To help, call Michelle Higman, event co-chair, at 301-739-8577, ext. 159.

The Christmas tree in the middle of the park lake is a 25-foot Colorado blue spruce donated by Marsha Guderjohn.

For event information, call 301-739-8577, ext. 183.
