Air Force thanks students for their cookies, suppport

November 27, 2006

Students in Betty Schriver's food-service class at the Job Development Program at Marshall Street School baked 20 dozen cookies in April and shipped them to soldiers stationed in Afghanistan, according to a press release from Washington County Public Schools.

The students also wrote and sent letters of support.

The military contact person for the project was U.S. Air Force Maj. Blaine Clowser, who is married to Sharon Wagaman Clowser of Waynesboro, Pa.

In appreciation for the cookies, the class received a plaque with a citation, Air Force patches and an American flag. The students learned the flag was flown over the compound at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan on May 29 in honor of the class.
